Puppy nipping is one of the first problems new puppy owners have to deal with. It is routed deeply in puppy’s nature and cannot be fully eliminated.

Puppies nip and bite because of the teething period they go through as it’s the easiest way to ease all the itching and pain associated with it. Puppies will also bite because they want to find out who is the leader of the pack and it’s their way to show dominance. If you don’t stop this behavior soon enough they will start to bite harder and eventually fight their way to the top of hierarchy. The moment it happens you will loose all of the respect you’ve earned so far and it will become extremely hard to control you dog’s behavior.

Your dog’s biting and nipping habits can be extremely annoying and sometimes even dangerous. Without proper puppy biting training your pet will get used to this undesired behavior and will continue biting everyone in the future for fun, to show dominance or to get someone’s attention.

If implemented early enough puppy biting training can significantly reduce the amount of biting and nipping experienced and can help in raising a relaxed and easy-going pet. Remember not to play aggressively with your dog while training him not to bite as this will only slow down the entire process.
